Malaysian Connection Problems
Saturday, 02 May 2009

***UPDATE*** 5 May 2009: We have reports from Malaysian users that they are able to connect to matrix.dal.net and arcor.dal.net. If you are connecting from Malaysia and are having difficulty, try /server arcor.dal.net 6667 or /server matrix.dal.net 6667

It has come to our attention that some Malaysian users are having difficulties connecting to DALnet. Some users are confused, and believe that DALnet has instituted a ban against Malaysian ISP(s). This is generally not the case. If you are banned, you will see a specific DALnet akill message with a reason and a link to more information on DALnet's website.

It seems that Telekom Malaysia has instituted some sort of change which prevents or interferes with connections to IRC for certain users. Unfortunately, there is nothing DALnet can do to assist in this problem, as we have no way to diagnose it. We aren't sure if the problem is related to connecting to certain geographic locations (US/Canada vs Europe), or some other issue. The issue is on Telekom Malaysia's side.

If you are having difficulty connecting, you should try connecting to irc.dal.net, and also connecting directly to some of the public servers in the US (krypt.dal.net, punch.dal.net, swiftco.dal.net) and Europe (matrix.dal.net, arcor.dal.net, valhall.dal.net). If you still can't connect, and aren't getting a DALnet-specific ban message, you will need to contact your ISP to let them know you're having a problem.

Best of luck, and thank you for using DALnet!

-ChanServ- *** End of Info ***

#KL is seen dropped and registered again by an anonymous. Nobody knows who is him as he buttons up his mouth. I was told that the new founder is a friend of ex-founder CrYdragon.

Due to personal reason, CrYdragon hands over the channel to this friend, quitting IRC after 10+ years. His nick is currently being frozen due to a misunderstand that the IRCop thought his nick was hacked.

But as far I know, the story isn't like what I told.

After so case, the channel lost its 10+ years historic registration date. The old channel operators seems preserved, remain opped in the channel. Like wise, those who are thirst for op can obviously seen start joining and being active in the channel.

We will see, how long does this beginning can last for? And how well can the current founder manage?

New #Kuchings

Meow

#Kuching is failed to be registered by anyone. As you know, DALnet admin won't care about this matter. Although me too, don't care about the death of DALnet, I hereby introducing a new channel for Kuching people.

There is a group of Kuching people, they have created a new kuching channel called #Kuchings. Instead of creating more Kuching city channel, try joining #Kuchings. Altogether in one channel, or else there will be no more Kuching people on DALnet.

Let's hope that current founder has learnt and will be wiser in managing his channel.
